Wandering Euan Taylor is here to take you the rest of the way home.

Evening people, live coverage of the Spike TV broadcast will begin very soon so keep refreshing your browsers for the latest.

Broadcast has just begun and the first thing of note is the new, flashier graphics they are using. Sad, i know but i wouldn’t be a nerd if i didn’t notice these things. Our first fight is upcoming.

Middleweight Division

Jesse Taylor vs. CB Dollaway (3×5 mins)

Winner – CB Dollaway via Peruvian Necktie Submission (3:58 R1)

My apologies for the lack of coverage as the Setanta feed did not show this fight for some reason.

Welterweight Division

Anthony Johnson vs. Kevin Burns (3×5 mins)

Referee: Steve Mazagatti

Round 1: Burns lands a right hand early on, battle of the knees in the clinch early on with no fighter gaining the advantage. Once they separate, the punches start coming with very few landing anywhere. Johnson lands an accidental low blow and the action is stopped briefly. Burns shoots in but is taken down immediately by Johnson and he tries to gain control on the ground but Burns is doing a good job of not letting him get any real advantage. In the final minute of the round, Johnson lands the occasional blow to Burns but they get back to the feet and swing away at each other but with no real success as the horn goes. Johsnon’s round.

Round 2: Johnson lands some shots and a sick knee in the opening moments of the round but Burns refuses to go down and Johnson forces him into the cage to deliver more punishment. Johnson now is more confident and loosens up a little and lands a hard right to Burns’ face which rocks him. Johnson throws a high kick that is blocked by Burns but he is taken down once again by Johnson. Final minute of the round brings more aggression from Johnson as he lands a shot to Burns from the feet which must’ve sucked to take. Mazagatti stands them up and Burns lands a leg kick as the horn goes. Again, Johnson’s round.

Round 3: Burns has not given up this fight as he comes out for the final round and connects with a nice combination but is once again taken down by Johnson and he quickly finds himself again under threat from Johnson’s shots. Mazagatti stands them up for lack of action and with 10 seconds, they are back to the ground in nearly the same position. Again Mazagatti stands them up and Johnson hits the ground claiming he was poked in the eye and the replay shows Burns certainly did and in quite a forceful way as the fight is halted.

Judges Decision: Kevin Burns via TKO

BULLSHIT, FUCKING BULLSHIT! EXPECT RANT ON THIS WEEK’S PODCAST!

Heavyweight Division (3×5 mins)

Cain Velasquez vs. Jake O’Brien

Referee: Mario Yamasaki

Round 1: Cain gets O’Brien down to the mat very quickly but cannot capitalise as they get to their knees. Cain immediately takes him down again and gets side control and begins to rain down punches on O’Brien’s head but Yamasaki sees that he is defending himself until about the 1000th punch and the fight is halted.

Winner – Cain Velasquez via TKO (2:10 R1)

This was the definition of domination, O’Brien was humbled!

Hi folks, Casey is here now as Euan had a weather related disaster that treated his satellite dish like O’Brien was treated by Velasquez in the last fight. While I’m here, the ruling of a TKO win for Burns was horrible but I expect that out of the same state that disqualified Humberto Soto for throwing a punch with in 100,000 miles of the back of Francisco Lorenzo’s head back on June 28.

Lightweights: Frankie Edgar Vs. Hermes Franca
Referee: Yves Lavigne

R1: Edgar with an immediate takedown and he’s landing some shots with his elbows and doing a good job of avoiding Franca’s attempted upkicks. Edgar’s corner warns him that Franca is lulling him to sleep. Shortly thereafter, Franca hooks an armbar that has Edgar in trouble briefly before he is able to pull out. An Upkick allows the fight to get back to the feet. Hermes lands a nice right over the top. Round ends with a Frankie Edgar elbow. Scoring: I give this round to Edgar 10-9.

I’m having computer trouble myself now.

R2:Edgar lands a nice combination to start and then a kick to the body before scoring a takedown and working some ground and pound. Franca trying to use wrist control but it isn’t enough to keep Edgar from landing strikes. He tries to pass but once again is cut off by Edgar. It gets up quickly and then Edgar takes him back down. Hermes is one giant mass of swollen body. Round is

-9 for Edgar so it is
-18 thus far.

Euan update, he has lost power in his house now due to the wind. This puts our Great American Bash coverage in serious question tomorrow.

R3:Hermes lands a nice uppercut to begin things this round and a big knee. Another but then the fight ends up back on the ground with Edgar working the ground and pound. Franca goes for a sweep but Edgar able to counter. Franca is clearly tired now but Edgar is still going strong. They get up and Hermes lands a left hook and an uppercut and then a big knee. Edgar is busted open but the round ends. Tough round as Franca looked good at the beginning and end but Edgar clearly owned the middle portion. I’m giving it to Edgar 10-9 but if this score comes back a 29-28 win for Edgar I won’t argue.

Winner: Frankie Edgar – 5:00 R3 (Unanimous Decision/30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Light Heavyweights: Brandon Vera Vs. Reese Andy
Referee: Steve “TKO for Burns” Mazagatti

R1:Verra with a headkick early and tries again but Reese Andy gets a takedown. They get up and Vera goes for a Highkick but Andy is able to avoid, lucky for him. Andy misses a leg kick and Vera makes him pay for it. Vera is just clearly outstriking him throughout this round. Brandon Vera with a big takedown in to side control. Vera controls to the end of the round.

-9 for Vera.

Vera must never fight at Heavyweight again.

R2: A takedown attempt early by Vera but Andy defends. Vera gets him down but Andy able to get back to his feet. They clinch briefly and that could be big trouble for the smaller Reese Andy. Vera is looking to counter punch and the fight has slowed down to a crawl and the crowd starts to boo. They exchange a couple of jabs toward the end of the round, Vera ends with a good leg kick. Crowd boos round ends. Another

-9 for Vera.

R3:Andy needs to come out the aggressor because he’s behind in the fight and he knows it. Vera definitely fighting different in the latter two rounds then he was in the first. Mazagatti restarts and Vera with a jab and moves out. Crowd is booing again as this fight has turned in to a whole bunch of not much. Announcers think Vera may be suffering from the effects of cutting the weight to 205. Andy tries a takedown but Vera stuffs as the crowd still boing. This round ends and I’ll give it to Vera 10-9 but only because I reserve the first ever 0-0 round for a potential Kalib Starnes Vs. Lyoto Machida fight.

Winner: Brandon Vera – 5:00 R3 (Unanimous Decision/30-27, 29-28, 30-27)
Brandon Vera gives a shoutout to Rampage Jackson.

I hope Silva slaughters Irvin or that if Irvin wins it is quick because I want my Rory Markham fight!

Light Heavyweights: James Irvin Vs. Anderson Silva
Referee: Mario Yamasaki

Irvin heads to the ring to Enter Sandman by Metallica. This isn’t an ECW crowd though because they’re not singing along. Silva still has a 2 inch reach advantage even though he’s moving up in weight.

R1:Slow start but Irvin hits a leg kick and then Silva decides it is time to whoop some ass as he scores a solid counter punch in response to the kick, gets Irvin down and finishes him off. Irvin bleeding badly from his eye is having trouble getting to his feet.

Winner: Anderson Silva – 1:01 R1 (Knockout)
I think he’ll be able to fight Yushin Okami on Sept. 6. I think he’s fine.

Yes, we’re getting

Welterweights: Brodie Farber Vs. Rory Markham
Referee: Steve “Thumbs to the eye are cool with me” Mazagatti

They openly refer to Markham as an IFL veteran. This is not the first reference to the IFL tonight.

R1:They clinch early then Faber lands a leg kick. A couple of leg kicks and the fight has been standing. Faber lands a right and then another, but Markham still staying in the pocket. Farber continues to land shots and he’s got Markham in trouble but then Markham lands the gigantic head kick and knocks Brodie Farber clean and stone cold out. Farber dropped his hands and was just clobbered. Gabriel Gonzaga is smiling somewhere. Knockout of the night right there but he and Silva may have to split that bonus.

Winner: Rory Markham – 1:37 R1 (Knockout)

Impressive and glad they showed the fight.

Well, that will do it for our coverage tonight. Sorry for the technical problems that plagued both myself and Euan but we do hope you liked what you saw.
