Welcome to Combat-Hooligans.com’s Live coverage of the June 7 episode of HBO’s World Championship Boxing. Our main event this evening is Kelly Pavlik defending his Middleweight crown for the first time against Gary Lockett. Also on the card is Daniel Ponce de Leon vs. Juan Manuel Lopez. I will be watching the live coverage on Setanta Sports in the UK so if there are omissions from the HBO broadcast that is why.

I’m back once again for more live coverage so without any further ado, here is fight number one.
WBO Intercontinental Super-Featherweight Championship
Kevin Mitchell(c) vs. Walter Estrada (12×3 mins)
Round 1: Not too much to report, both fighters pressed the action but Mitchell did land the majority of the shots so the opening round goes to him.
My fellow colleague Casey Trowbridge is covering tonight’s Showtime Championship Boxing over here so check it out as well as my own.
Round 2: Estrada wakes up in round 2 and unleashes a flurry of punches that Mitchell has no repsonse to apart from eating each one and this is not the best strategy. Mitchell did make a small comeback near the end of the round but Estrada secured that round with ease.
Round 3: Very even round, similar to the first. Estrada did not carry on the momentum he built in round 2. I can’t separate them.
Round 4: MItchell has now got a spectacular amount of swelling just above his right eye as a result of the round 2 pumilling. Estrada landed more quality shots than Mitchell so he gets the round from me.
Round 5: Mitchell lands some great shots but as we head into the final 10 seconds, he lands a couple of not so powerful shots to the body and Estrada crumbles to the ground and the referee calls the fight off before the 6th.
Not the greatest fight in the world but entertaining enough.
Winner – Kevin Mitchell via TKO Round 5 (Unable to start round 6)
WBO Super Bantamweight Championship
Daniel Ponce De Leon (c) vs. Juan Manuel Lopez(12×3 mins)
Round 1: Juan Manuel Lopez starts out strong throwing everything he can at De Leon and he is rewarded with a knockdown that De Leon just beats the count on. About a minute later, Lopez hits a sweet combination ending with a huge right hook and De Leon is KTFO’d. Great fight, prepare to hear more about Juan Manuel Lopez in the future.
Winner and NEW WBO Super Bantamweight Champion- Juan Manuel Lopez via KO Round 1 (2:25)
MAIN EVENT TIME!!!
WBC/WBO Middleweight Championships
Kelly Pavlik(c) vs. Gary Lockett
Round 2: My tv was being screwey hence why i am joining this fight at round 2, my apologies. Pavlik is making Lockett feel the pain with seemingly unrelenting flurries of shots. Easily a Pavlik round.
Round 3: Lockett is very slow coming out for the third and Pavlik continues where he left off in round 2 with more big shots being landed and eventually a shot to the body finally causes Lockett to go down in obvious pain and while the referee is checking him out his corner throw the towel in and that’s all she wrote. Dominant performance from the champion.
Winner and STILL WBC/WBO Middleweight Champion- Kelly Pavlik via TKO Round 3 (1:40)
That’s all from Atlantic CIty and from myself so i would like to say thank you for checking out this live coverage brought to you by Combat-Hooligans.com and come back soon for more.
